What does music mean to you?

I pray that it means a way to ascribe worth
to our Lord, a way to express to Him that
we love Him with our whole heart;
(1) Because He told us to do it;
(2) Because we can’t help but do it;
(3) Because we want to encourage others to do it.
There are so many reasons to sing our praise to Him.
I hope you will open your mouth and let fly a
“joyful noise unto the Lord.”

Bruce was born and raised in a God fearing, church loving family, in St. Petersburg and Inverness Fl.  His grandparents on his mother’s side were independent career missionaries to central and South America and His parents Bruce and Barbara have been consistently involved in doing God’s work through their local churches.  They also attend here at FBC Homosassa.

It was in a backyard Bible Club at the age of seven that Bruce found salvation.  That is where he realized that something was missing from his life and that particular something was Jesus.  Mrs. Wallace, a neighbor from down the block helped him to see that his sin separated him from having an eternal relationship with God and he asked Jesus to be his Savior and Lord.

Bruce attended Citrus High School and with the positive influence of good friends was baptized at Main St. Baptist church.  Even as a teenager he felt God’s calling on his life.  He also felt the world pulling him away from what God wanted him to do.  After several failing attempts to do other than what God intended for him to do he began to recognize God’s calling.

While attending Central Florida Community College Bruce immersed himself in the student ministry at FBC Ocala and as a camp counselor at Ridgecrest He surrendered his life to vocational ministry.  Since then he attended Stetson University in Deland receiving a Bachelor of Music Education degree and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas where he received a Master of Music degree.  Upon graduation He spent the next 16 years serving churches in Oklahoma.

.  He met his wife while serving a part time church in Fruitland Park Fl. She was fully involved in the music ministry singing soprano in the choir, solos and ensembles and also leading children’s choirs. They have two grown sons Jason and Sean who still live in Oklahoma.

Karen and I are so happy to be able to serve among friends and family.  It took the Lord several years to bring us back to God’s country and there was a lot of homesickness that we had to work through in those years.  Today we look forward to being faithful in what God has called us to do, specifically ministering to the people in our community. We thank you for your prayers and support.
